Air Liquide China drives green activities in 18 cities across China

In spring when life returns and bursts with growth, Air Liquide China kicks off another round of Green Action. More than 400 employee volunteers from 24 Air Liquide subsidiaries participated in the tree planting activities, covering 18 cities including Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Qingdao, Wuxi, Nanjing, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Dalian and Chengdu.

Led by Remi Charachon, President and CEO of Air Liquide China, the company officially launched the Air Liquide China Green Action in March, 2009 in Shanghai, and saw active response from all employees around China. Green Action includes a series of green activities such as tree-planting, World Earth Day and Air Liquide Green Life, aiming at strengthening the environment awareness and promoting the low-carbon lifestyle among employees, customers, suppliers and communities.

Low-carbon economy has become one of the key focuses of the China society. In the 12th Five-Year plan, starting in 2011, China government clearly sets "accelerating the development of resource-saving and environment-friendly society as well as improving the ecological civilization" as the target for the next five years. As the world leader in gases for industry, health and the environment, Air Liquide is committed to sustainable development and environment protection. The industrial gases and innovative technologies of Air Liquide, such as hydrogen energy, oxy-combustion and removal of sulfur from fuels can help industrial customers improve energy efficiency and reduce pollution emission. Meanwhile, Air Liquide puts efficiency improvement and energy saving in the first place throughout its daily operations, minimizing the impact to environment through continued improved energy efficiencies at its production units.
