Our story
Entering China in 1916 and supplying air separation units to the local market since the 1970s, Air Liquide today operates around 140 sites in over 40 cities. After many years of steady growth, we now employ over 5,600 people nationwide. Our main businesses include: industrial and medical gas operations, Engineering & Construction, advanced technologies, as well as R&D activities by Innovation Campus Shanghai. With a strong presence in China’s key coastal industrial areas, Air Liquide is now further expanding into the nation’s central, southern and western regions.

Our history
1990~2000
1st wholly-owned entity founded in China
Air Liquide (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was established, supplying high purity gases to two semiconductor manufacturers in Shanghai.
Market Development
Between 1992 and 1994, Air Liquide set up over 10 subsidiaries and joint ventures in Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing and Guangdong.
2000~2010
Increasing investment in China
At the dawn of the new millennium, China became a major growth market for industrial gases. Air Liquid began to increase investments and secured several significant contracts.
Air Liquide (China) Holding Co., Ltd. founded
Air Liquide (China) Holding Co., Ltd. was founded, with business mainly in eastern coastal areas.
2010~2022
Providing logistics service and backup hydrogen supply for the Expo 2010 Shanghai
Accelerating the deployment of hydrogen energy infrastructure
In the presence of Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, and Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China, Air Liquide and Sinopec signed a MoU to contribute to the acceleration of the deployment of hydrogen mobility solutions in China.
