On September 6, Air Liquide China Chairman and CEO Marcelo Fioranelli was presented with Magnolia Silver Award by Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office in Shanghai. Marcelo was among 50 expats who received the honor this year.
Established by the city government in 1989 and named after Shanghai's official flower, the Magnolia Award recognizes foreign experts' and partners' outstanding contributions to Shanghai's economic and social development.
Commenting on the award, Marcelo said, "It's my great honor to receive the award. It means more than an individual award to me. Rather, it recognizes Air Liquide China's positive brand image as a responsible corporate citizen, and encourages us to continue our long-term commitment to the sustainable development of Shanghai and China as a whole.”
Nearly four years ago, Marcelo took charge of Air Liquide China which is headquartered in Shanghai. Under his leadership, the company adopted the new strategy in China of "striving for excellence" or "卓越" in Chinese — to pursue profitable and sustainable growth over the long term. Today, this initiative is also fully aligned with Air Liquide Group's new company strategy introduced in 2016.
Over the past four years, Air Liquide China has seen many significant business achievements including an increased focus on business opportunities helping customers optimize energy conversion and efficiency. The company has secured several key partnerships with customers in the oil and gas, metals, fiber optics, and is continually upgrading its facilities and materials offerings for electronics industry. As an expansion from hospital to home healthcare, Air Liquide China recently introduced diabetes infusion therapy to meet home healthcare patient needs. In 2016, Air Liquide Shanghai Research & Technology Center was launched to support innovation and sustainable development in China.
Besides advocating an environmentally-friendly and customer-centric mindset through innovative products and solutions, Marcelo also attaches great importance to corporate social responsibility (CSR). With his strong support, Air Liquide China now promotes a series of CSR activities under the "Air Liquide Care" program. These include "Road Safety Lectures", “Marathon First Responder Program", the "Green Action" annual tree-planting, and the computer recycling and donation program "Air Liquide Computer Classroom".
