Air Liquide China wins dual honors at 2025 AICM Responsible Care® Award Ceremony

Air Liquide China was presented with the 2025 AICM Responsible Care® Company Award and Sustainability Initiative Award at the awarding ceremony in Xi'an on June 18, 2025, for its outstanding performance in safety performance, carbon reduction, and commitment to promoting Responsible Care® over the past two years.

At Air Liquide, safety is the first priority. In 2023, the ‘Knowing Our Safety Risks’ initiative was launched globally to help employees identify risks in their environment and adopt safe behaviors. To further improve road safety performance, the Road Safety Control Tower was set up in Shanghai in 2024 for real-time monitoring of driver’s behaviors and intervention when needed, which has significantly reduced driver fatigue alarms. Various “close the loop” actions and strict safety management processes have enabled the LTA (Lost Time Accident) & Non-LTA combined frequency rate* to be reduced by a half from 2022 to 0.4 in 2024.  

In terms of decarbonization, Air Liquide China purchased 1,500 GWh of low-carbon power in 2024, leading to an emissions reduction of 1 million tons of CO2 last year. Another major decarbonization initiative is the electrification of production units, such as the commissioning of two electrified air separation units in Tianjin in October 2024, reducing emissions by 400,000 tons annually. They are now powered by low-carbon electricity, reducing the emissions by an additional 400,000 tons of CO2 per year. Moreover, the 300 bar Type II hydrogen filling center, inaugurated in Shanghai in March 2025, is capable of refueling over 1,000 medium-to-heavy-duty trucks each day, accelerating the adoption of hydrogen-powered transportation in the Yangtze River Delta.

As a signatory to the Responsible Care® Global Charter, Air Liquide China also actively promotes Responsible Care principles, particularly in energy transition and environmental protection, which includes presenting low-carbon solutions to industry partners, participating in climate events and advocating for sustainable initiatives, and organizing awareness activities with customers and the communities.
